Kicking Off Our Blog

First, let us kick off our blog (officially) with good news, by saying Congratulations! to our dear friends Julie and Raul on their engagement this week in Jamaica! What a beautiful couple (and sunset) -->

Brian and I are settling in well to Boston. While things did not work out with the house we found during our house-hunting trip, we love our place in the sky and the amazing view from the 31st floor. We are going to continue to househunt, but are taking our time and are very comfortable.

While Brian has been working a surgeon's hours, he is doing what he has always wanted to do, and is holding up very well. Believe it or not, we've actually had time to get out and do quite a few fun things in the past month, even given our schedules:

-- We recently attended a black-tie gala for the surgeons at Boston Harbor Hotel and had a great time. Listening to what so many of these young doctors have done is enough to make anyone feel completely inadequate! You can see a few photos here .

-- We also recently enjoyed a nice trip to the Cape to escape the summer heat.

-- Our anniversary was last week (June 29). While this was the first (and we hope only) anniversary we did not take a trip for, because of Brian's schedule, we did have a GREAT time. We attended a Red Sox game, and sat in the second row behind home plate. We even had a waitress! It was fun, and of course, the Sox won. GO SOX! And a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Zinner for the ridiculously great tickets. We followed up the Wednesday afternoon game with a belated anniversary dinner on Friday at Boston's renowned L'Espalier (a wonderful and romantic surprise from Brian).

-- We spent the Fourth of July at Boston's famous Independence Day celebration, in the company of our dear friends Jens and Sherry . Those who know how much I've loved the Boston Pops since childhood can imagine my excitement. Jens is a resident dermatologist, so he and Brian have a lot to commiserate about, and Sherry and I manage to have as much fun as you can imagine Sherry-Squared would have. We are so lucky to have them in Boston with us for the next few years, after their world travels kept them far away from us for so long! Here are some pictures from the day!
