Caribbean vacation in honor of our anniversary for about five days, then fly to Julie and Raul's wedding in Wine Country before returning to Boston. After our house closing was pushed back to June, we cancelled the Caribbean plan, with the intent to spend a couple days moving, then fly to California for some R&R to ourselves before heading to Julie's wedding. We moved into our house, and were out running errands last Tuesday, when we returned home to get our luggage out of the basement on our way to the airport for our flight out that night. When we opened our basement door, the basement was flooded. Our hot water heater had blown and was filling up the basement at a frightening rate. A frantic phone call to a plumber, two days, and $945 later, we had a new water heater and a basement that was drying out.
We then flew to California. Julie and Raul's wedding was amazing, even if we didn't exactly have a relaxing vacation. It will be a bit before we blog about our California trip and the wedding, as we are collecting photographs from TABLE NUMBER 5 before we go there. (Go Table Number 5.) So stay tuned.
Brian's twin brother Eric flew back with us from Cali on the red eye last night. He is visiting us now in Boston, hanging out with Brian while Brian has five more days of scheduled vacation, and helping him do stuff on our house, because Eric's really good at it. He's like a kid in a candystore, there's so much to be done on such an old house! Unfortunately for Eric, we're in the middle of a bunch of rainstorms. Here's a pic of the Bunker Hill Monument (near our house) in similarly cheery weather. Nice summer. (We might add, though, that Boston did manage to squeeze out two sunny days at 102 degrees each-- our moving days!)
