A packed week . . .

In addition to our normal nutty schedules, this week Sherry was in Washington, D.C. for work. She flew back Friday evening. Then, we had a crazy weekend-- "crazy" in a mostly-good way.
Friday night we went out to dinner with our friends Jens and Sherry on the wharf. Saturday night was a wonderful party thrown by Dr. Rubash, who is head of the MGH Orthopaedic department, at his home in beautiful Weston. All of the orthopaedic surgeons and their families were invited to the cookout, which included activities for children (a clown, an inflatable castle, glow-in-the-dark jewelry, and swimming for those who were brave), for adults (a tarot card reader, cigars, delicious food, lovely tables around the pool, and a nicely stocked bar) and for teenagers (hottubbing)! A lovely time was had by all, and it was a great chance to get to know the other surgeons, both residents and attendings. Brian's year surgeons followed it up with a trip to a pub in Beacon Hill, which was fun.

Sunday morning we attended the christening of Madeline Rose, adorable daughter of our wonderful friends Anne and Chris, in Wellesley. Anne and Chris have been our friends since we lived in Boston in 1998-2000, when Chris was Brian's roommate, and Sherry and Anne became quick friends. Annie was a bridesmaid in our wedding in 2002. Maddy is the sweetest baby, and everyone had fun at the reception afterwards. You can see more pictures here.

Afterwards, Sherry spent the afternoon at the office preparing for a hearing, and left just in time to meet Brian out front, and run to the waterfront to celebrate Boston's 375th birthday with fireworks a few blocks from our place. Whew! What a weekend!
